Yellow Brown Cognac
|
| 3 stones2 Pear + 1 Cushion | 0.31 ctTotal Weight | SI2Clarity |
Three natural diamonds, 0.31 carats in total, around ten points each. Two pears and one cushion, in the warm yellow-brown range: a deep cognac-orange pear, a golden olive cushion, and a lighter golden brown pear. They share a family but each has its own depth, and the cognac pear is clearly the darkest of the three.
Two pears with a cushion is a more useful combination than it first looks. A cushion in the centre with a pear pointing outward on each side is a classic three-stone layout — the pears give the piece direction and the cushion holds the middle. The two pears also work on their own as a pair of drops, leaving the cushion for a separate ring.
Clarity is SI2. That is lower than most of our small parcels and we are stating it plainly rather than softening it — see the disclosure below before you bid.

Two matching-shape pears with a cushion gives you a symmetrical three-stone layout, or two separate pieces from one parcel.
Pear-side three-stone ringThe strongest use. Cushion at the centre, a pear pointing outward on each side, bezel or claw set across a band. The pears give the piece width and direction, and in warm cognac tones it looks like a period piece rather than a modern engagement ring. |
Signet ring, single stoneThe cushion flush-set into the face of a heavy gold signet. Understated and hard-wearing, nothing raised to catch or snag, and a warm golden olive against yellow gold reads as a deliberate, quietly expensive choice. |
Pear drop earringsThe two pears as a pair of small drops, hung point-down. They are not identical in tone, so set them as a deliberate pair rather than a matched one — or keep the deeper cognac for a pendant and use the lighter pear elsewhere. |
Minimal bezel solitaireOne stone rub-over set on a fine band. At ten points it sits low and close to the finger, which is what makes minimal work look considered rather than thin. Yellow, rose or blackened silver. |
Toi et moi ringThe cognac pear and the cushion side by side on one band — two shapes, two depths of the same warm family. A design having a genuine revival, and it wants stones that differ on purpose. |
Men's and unisex piecesCognac and golden brown carry very well in men's work — the cushion flush-set in a broad band, a signet, cufflinks or a tie bar. Low profile and warm muted colour read as restrained rather than decorative. |
On metal: yellow and rose gold are the natural pairing, and rose gold in particular flatters the cognac pear. Antique-finish yellow gold suits the whole parcel. Brushed, satin and matte finishes work better than high polish. White gold and platinum are the hardest to carry, since cool metal flattens a warm brown.
Two Separate Guarantees
These are natural mined diamonds, not laboratory grown. Not CVD, not HPHT grown, not synthetic, not simulants. All three came out of the ground.
No treatment of any kind has been applied. Not irradiated, not HPHT colour treated, not coated, not painted, not laser drilled, not fracture filled, not heated, not enhanced in any other way. The colour in all three stones is their own.
Our guarantee on both points: if any stone in this parcel is shown by a recognised gemmological laboratory to be laboratory grown, or to have been treated in any way, return the complete parcel within 30 days of delivery for a full refund including your testing costs. We will honour that without argument.
Worth knowing: brown and warm yellow are among the most commonly treated colours on the market — HPHT-processed and irradiated material is widespread at this end of the range, and none of it can be separated from natural by eye. That is exactly why we state our position as a guarantee backed by a refund rather than as a line in a description. If it matters to you, hold us to it.

Full Disclosure — Please Read Before Bidding
Clarity is SI2, and that is the main thing to understand here. SI2 means inclusions are readily visible under 10x magnification and can be visible to the naked eye on close inspection. The warm, saturated body colour of these stones masks a great deal — in the hand they read better than the grade alone suggests — but the inclusions are present and findable. Please study every photograph before bidding, and ask us for closer images if you want them.
This is a parcel of three stones and 0.31 carats is the total. Please do not read that as the weight of a single diamond. Each stone is around ten points.
Mixed shapes, and the three differ in depth of colour. Two are pears and one is a cushion. The cognac pear is clearly darker than the other two. If you need three stones that read alike, this parcel is not that. The two pears will read as a pair at a glance but they are not identical.
The colour and clarity assessments are our own, made in Bangkok under standard grading conditions, not laboratory grades. A laboratory would grade each stone individually and may return different results.
Both pears have points, and points are where small stones take damage. No cut, polish or symmetry grades are offered, and individual measurements are not published here. We recommend V-tip or protective settings for the pears, and telling your setter before any work begins. If you need millimetre dimensions, ask and we will measure all three before you bid.
Every photograph and the video show the actual stones under natural light without colour correction. Warm cognac and brown read stronger under incandescent light and flatter, greyer, under cool daylight. Study all the images and ask us for more if you want them.

About The Facet HouseThe Facet House is a Bangkok-based supplier of natural diamonds and coloured gemstones. We buy at source and grade in Bangkok, and we deal only in stones we can document. We do not sell laboratory-grown material of any kind, and we state the clarity grade as it is rather than letting strong colour cover for it. |
Contact UsMessage us through eBay for millimetre measurements, close images of the inclusions or the pear points, additional photographs, or video under different light sources. On an SI2 parcel we would much rather answer the question now than after delivery. We reply within 24 hours, Bangkok time. If you would prefer a cleaner parcel, we hold VS trios in champagne, golden yellow and bronze — ask and we will send them. |
