Original vintage pre-Second World War wooden golf club dating from approximately the 1930s.
A highly characterful early golf club featuring a traditional wooden head, period shaft and surviving original markings. The underside is fitted with a metal sole plate stamped “L3” and “Made in Scotland”. The shaft retains a period “Whippy” marking/sticker, while the grip carries the Leyland name together with registration number 552240.
The club displays the construction and styling associated with early 20th-century golf equipment and would make an attractive piece for a vintage golf collection, sporting display, clubhouse décor or historical golf memorabilia collection.
Condition is consistent with its considerable age. There is visible wear throughout including surface marks, scratches, finish loss, age-related discolouration, wear to the grip and oxidation/corrosion to the metal fittings and screws. There is also visible age-related wear around the wooden head/neck area. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
