Vintage Art Deco Streamlined Silver-Plated Over-the-Cup Tea Strainer & Drip Cup Set
Item Description:
Up for sale is a vintage 2-piece silver-plated over-the-cup tea strainer with its matching low-slung drip cup stand. This set features a gorgeous, sleek Art Deco aesthetic that brings clean geometric lines to your afternoon tea table or vintage kitchen display.
- The Strainer: Measures 5 ½" long by 2 ⅛" wide. It features an elegant, stylized "Y" shaped openwork handle with vertical fluting that tapers to a fan-shaped end. Balanced on the opposite side by a matching three-tiered fluted tab, it sits securely across the rim of standard teacups.
- The Drip Cup: Measures 2 ⅛" wide at the flared collar. Together with the nested strainer, the total set stands 1 ½" tall. The wide, rounded base is designed to securely catch remaining tea droplets after brewing, protecting your tablecloths from stains.
Condition Report:
This vintage set shows authentic signs of age and historic use.
- Strainer: In good vintage condition with a bright, highly reflective mirror finish.
- Drip Cup: Shows significant, heavy silver plating wear ("bleed through") along the lower pedestal neck, exposing the golden brass/copper base metal underneath (as clearly pictured). The interior shows typical circular manufacturing spin marks and dark tea tarnish/stains from previous use.
