Striking vintage pair of hand-carved water buffalo horn sculptures featuring elaborate Asian dragon designs. Each naturally curved horn is intricately carved through the dark polished surface to reveal the warm golden tones beneath, creating beautifully detailed scales, faces and decorative motifs. Small red inset eyes give the dragons particularly wonderful character.

The horns are mounted individually on warm-toned wooden bases and are designed as a complementary pair. Their dramatic curved forms make them especially sculptural when displayed together, either crossed or facing one another.

Likely Southeast Asian export work, possibly Thai, dating approximately to the 1960s–1980s. The underside of each wooden base bears hand-applied markings, as shown in the photographs.

The horns measure approximately 14 inches and 13 1/2 inches tall respectively, and each wooden base measures approximately 5 inches across.

Very good vintage condition overall, with scattered light scratches and surface wear consistent with age and handling. One wooden base has a small chip. Please see the detailed photographs, including close views of the carving, reverse sides and undersides.

A wonderfully graphic pair of vintage Asian decorative sculptures with beautiful natural horn coloration and exceptionally appealing dragon imagery.
