Here we have an absolutely exceptional antique Art Nouveau brass wall light. This is an extremely beautiful example with a typical flowing nouveau design. It has an ornate brass wall plate with an elaborate sweeping arm featuring wonderfully organic Art Nouveau curves and scrollwork. The aged brass has developed a lovely natural patina which really adds to its character. This is a genuine period piece dating to c1890, bulb holder is later. I have been unable to attribute it to a specific maker but it has the quality and design associated with some of the great British lighting makers of the era such as W.A.S. Benson, Hinks, Faraday & Son and Best & Lloyd.
It would make a superb light above a reading table, desk or writing table. This would fit in a treat at a luxury boutique, period property, Art nouveau styled room or country house interior. A really exemplary piece of original antique British lighting and one of the more unusual Art Nouveau wall lights I have owned. It measures approximately 11.5 inches by 6.75 inches by 3.5 inches.
