WHEEL COVER SET OVERALL RATING CONDITION: Grade A levels = Excellent (A), Near Excellent (A/A-), Very Good (A-), Pretty Good (A--). Grade B levels = Driver Grade Pretty Good (B++), Driver Grade Good Shape (B+), Average Condition (B), Fair/Poor but Usable Condition (B-, C+, C). All "B" & "C" Grades will have more visible damage than any "A" Grade. Ratings are based on the physical condition of the metal and the overall perceptive appearance, not paint (if applicable). This auction item is highlighted in BLUE on this scale.
SET DETAILS: This auction is for FOUR (4) Wheel Covers, overall set rating is "Grade B++" shape (Pretty Good Driver Condition) -- and each of them are "B++" grade as well. Visually they are rather shiny, bright & cheery, with a strong amount of polished reflective shine along with lightly brushed finish (Center Face). Very hard to photograph with a flash, due to the great shine. Full details on the condition of each cover is listed further below. Additionally, watch the Video that has been uploaded.
PHYSICAL CONDITION: Upper "B" Grade wheel covers will have lower prices than "A" grades but they also have more wear & tear / damage (usually several spots)....perhaps this is a balance point for a budget conscious owner. They are decently presentable but I do not consider them to be Excellent or Very Good. If you need something in a more premium condition, check out the listings in my eBay store or message me - I have a large selection!
These particular wheel covers have seen some road time but still have plenty of life left in them. They are a unique design, by being the only Eldorado wheel covers made with horizontal vanes instead of vertical spokes. Each of the raised centers are nicely reflective and have the traditional Cadillac Crest/Wreath embossed in the center (this is the LARGEST one ever used on an Eldorado wheel cover). Three of the wheel covers are so presentable that they should be graded at the "A--" but each is missing a vane segment, so I bumped down the grade a notch for that. Since the Center Faces (what you see mostly) are so nice, most of the damage is on the Perimeter Rims due to former inept owners installing them without patience (not seating them properly or placing the tabs over existing wheel weights - thus causing the owner to hit the wheel cover harder - causing rim taps while trying to impossibly seat it against a wheel weight).
As a general rule, damage on any "B++" Grade can possibly be those perimeter hammer taps or curb rashing/scratches, storage scratches/creases or dimples/dings on the Crown Face, Crown Edge metal wobble from some sort of impact, random stone dings/nicks, paint fade or peel, etc. A quick assessment is below (The rest of each wheel cover is in very good or great shape, except for what is noted).
Stock # Grade Notes
2608A2 B++ Beautiful Center Face (what you mostly see) with just one stone nick in lower right. Great Crown Edge with just a few faint rash scratches on far right side (polished down). Vanes are in Excellent Condition, with the exception of one rear vane missing at the far left. Perimeter Rim, as mentioned, has a fair amount (10+) of small mallet/hammer indents from poor installation technique. Great Shine!
2608A3 B++ Beautiful Center Face (what you mostly see), no blemishes. Great Crown Edge with just a small faint ding in the bottom-left area. Vanes are in Excellent Condition, with the exception of two rear vanes missing (lower right, upper left). Perimeter Rim, as mentioned, has a fair amount (10+) of small mallet/hammer indents from poor installation technique. Great Shine!
2404W2 B++ Beautiful Center Face (what you mostly see) without any significant blemishes. Decent Crown Edge with just a few faint rash scratches on far left side (polished down). There is also some metal wobble at the top right with scratch lines (polished down too) from a indent of some sorts. Vanes are in Excellent Condition, with just one rear vane missing at the lower right. Perimeter Rim is Very Good, with only a few (appx 4) of small mallet/hammer indents from poor installation technique. Great Shine!
2606L1 B++ Beautiful Center Face (what you mostly see) without any stone nicks/dents. There are some faint storage scratch lines but they are not too visible. Pretty Good Crown Edge with just a few faint rash scratches above the Faces' Wreath/Crest, as well as some directly below that area (where there is a 3" patch of metal wobble from a crease line). Vanes are in Excellent Condition, with all of them being present. Perimeter Rim is Very Good, with only a few (appx 2) of small mallet/hammer indents from poor installation technique. Great Shine!
PHOTO CONDITIONS: Various outdoor (mid afternoon) locations in available (Mostly Sunny Day) sunlight, tree shade and full shade locations. Caddypartz pictures are among the best on eBay! Taken very close up, from all angles, and in colorful high resolution. Full VIDEO is available as well.
** SAVE $$~! WHEEL COVER TRADE-INS ARE WELCOMED! MESSAGE ME. **
The wheel covers were test mounted on an Eldorado rim and fit decently. All of my wheel covers have been professionally cleaned to remove tar, oils, road grime, brake dust, etc.....Dirty and stinky wheel covers will NOT be coming your way! Mounting tabs are also neutral adjusted as well.
Items are shipped with FULL VALUE insurance.
Keep your expectations realistic, this is a set of 50+ year old wheel covers with average use characteristics.
** The 1967-78 Eldorado wheel covers are unique in the car world.....they are designed to fit over the wheel rim that has a huge offset due to the front wheel drive design. Therefore NO other front or rear wheel drive hubcaps will ever work on the Eldo...just the original factory ones.**
See my other auctions for more individual 1967-68 Eldorado wheel covers.
NOTE: This is an old-school wheel cover! You may have to bend some of the retaining tabs to get it to fit perfect on your steel wheels....especially if you have balancing weights. This wheel cover will fit any 1967-78 Eldorado with the stock factory 15" steel rims. Cadillac never offered anything else but that rim back in the day.
