This Crosby sterling silver salt or pepper shaker features a classic neoclassical urn-shaped design with a fluted lower body and decorative gadroon rope-style borders. Crosby was a respected American manufacturer of silver goods, specializing in elegant tabletop accessories. This piece features a "weighted" base, a construction method where the hollow silver form is filled with a stable material like cement or pitch to provide weight and prevent tipping, while the upper section remains sterling silver.

• Stamped "STERLING WEIGHTED" and "CROSBY" on the base plate
• Design features a fluted base and gadroon edging on the shoulder and foot
• Removable pierced lid with glass-lined threaded neck to protect silver from salt corrosion
• Measures approximately 4.75 inches in height and weighs 128.2 grams total

Condition: Good vintage condition. Shows moderate tarnish typical of aged sterling; could be polished to a high shine if desired. The lid is fully functional and unscrews easily from the glass neck. No major dents or structural damage. Minor surface marks consistent with age and previous household use. Weighted base is intact and secure.
