Welcome to our auction! Many of you know us as longtime collectors and sellers of antique and vintage Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter holiday memorabilia, paper ephemera, antique dolls and toys and fine jewelry.

Over the next several months, I will be listing more incredible pieces of Hallowe'en history from some of our hobby’s most well-respected and knowledgeable collectors. I am celebrating more than 25 years of finding new homes for such wonderful treasures on eBay!

This WICKEDLY wonderful 1930s German diecut decoration is for those collectors who, like me, have a particular fondness for items with a spookier countenance.

This diecut decoration features a large skull and crossbones wearing a somewhat sinister smile, and this example retains its original PERFECT red transparency.

When held up to the light, Mr. Bones just glows!

This diecut is made from thick, VERY heavily embossed cardboard or pressed paper pulp, and it is embossed Germany in tiny letters on a cheek.

In my many years of collecting, this is one of the finest examples I have ever seen. The glassine transparencies are usually oh-so-vulnerable to loss and to tears – but NOT so here!

This decoration measures a whopping 10 ½” high.

While this diecut has a matte finish, interestingly, his German manufacturers decided to glaze his teeth and I love the contrast.

The exact condition is as follows:

There is NO major damage to this piece. There are NO bends, creases, or tears. There is some age-related surface crackling commensurate with his age of 90-something years. There are two tiny pinholes near the original hanging hole. There is also a tiny pinhole at the bottom as well. The glaze to his teeth has darkened slightly, but attractively. As mentioned earlier, the transparency is MINT and gives off quite the ghoulish glow. That transparency is deep red with NO fading!

One like it can be seen on page 179 of the outstanding reference book entitled “Vintage Halloween Collectibles: Third Edition” by esteemed collector, expert and author Mark B. Ledenbach. Using his relative scarcity index, Mark has assigned the number “4” for this diecut, which means UNCOMMON.

Hallowe'en diecuts from this era exemplify the outstanding creativity and workmanship of the German paper artisans – truly, a lost art. This decoration would make an ideal acquisition for enthusiasts of authentic vintage and antique Halloween memorabilia, hard-to-find German diecuts, and highly desirable holiday paper ephemera and wall décor from the Golden Age of Hallowe'en – the 1920s and 1930s.

Enjoy!

Oh, there’ll be spooky doings
When cometh Hallowe’en,
With black cats loudly meowing,
And witches to be seen;
For ‘tis the night when bats careen,
And hoots the hooting owl,
While in the heavy shadows
The gray ghost slyly prowl.

Happy Hallowe’en 2026!
