Stunning Antique 19th Century Chinese Chaozhou Giltwood Openwork Panel FragmentAn exceptional, authentic example of traditional late Qing Dynasty Chaozhou woodcarving (Chaozhou mudiao). This miniature relief fragment features remarkably intricate, multi-layered openwork depicting classical battlefield warriors on horseback racing past traditional pine trees and architectural features.

Authentic Layered Technique: The piece displays an authentic manufacturing sequence. The structural wood block was sealed entirely with deep, rich reddish-brown lacquer before the front-facing high-relief figures were meticulously finished in bright gold leaf gilding.
Exquisite Lattice Work: The reverse side reveals clean hand-chiseled geometric lines with a classic coin pattern framework, displaying the original golden overspray inside the deep cavities.
Historical Character: Shows wonderful genuine historic age and handling wear. The gold leaf has naturally rubbed away on the exposed side border over the decades, beautifully revealing the dark lacquer base below.
