Beautiful antique domino set, believed to date from the Victorian / late 19th-century period, complete with the original dark wooden sliding-lid box. A really lovely old set with plenty of character and a great decorative or collectible piece.

The set is complete with 28 dominoes and appears to be made in the traditional style with bone faces and dark ebony backs. Each domino has inset black pips and a small brass pin/stud through the centre, which can be seen clearly in the photographs. The combination of natural bone colouring, dark backs and tiny metal centre pins gives them a wonderful genuine antique appearance.

The original wooden storage box has a sliding, plus attractive old dovetail/finger-jointed construction at the corners. There is also a faint old marking/stamp visible to the underside of the box.

As expected for an item of this age, there is age-related wear, discolouration, marks and patina to both the dominoes and wooden case. The box also shows wear around the edges and joints. I have deliberately not restored or heavily cleaned it as the aged finish is part of its charm. Please study all photographs as they form an important part of the description.

A particularly attractive complete antique domino set, ideal for a collector of Victorian games, antique gaming pieces, social history items or simply as an unusual display piece.
