by WANG HING & YE BO / c. 1890
This exceptional antique Chinese export silver bowl features an overall repousse floral design of chrysanthemums, enameled in blue, green, lavender and yellow and rests on three ball-shaped feet, dating to the Qing Dynasty.
The bowl was made by Chinese artisan, Ye Bo, and sold by retailer, Wang Hing & Co., dating back to the late 19th century and is marked for both.
Measurements:3 inches (7.5 cm) in height
9 inches (22 cm) in diameter
Stamped: The piece features the signature marks of the artisan Ye Bo
alongside the "WH" mark for Wang Hing
90 for the coin silver quality
Enamel Work:
While
silver enamel was frequently used in Chinese filigree and jewelry,
finding vibrant multi-colored shading, in greens, blues, purples, and
yellows, applied directly to a large pierced export silver bowl is quite rare.
Condition:
The bowl is in wonderful antique condition, at over a century in age, with vibrant colors and no loss to the enamel work: the rim is only slightly off round, which is not readily noticeable.
