This is a Nakamichi ZX-9 that I personally restored. I build and restore audio gear and have done a fair amount of Nakamichi Decks.
This is an international unit and will work for both 110-120V and 220-240V countries (via switch on the back)
In this ZX-9 I replaced most electrolytic capacitors with high quality Nichicon and all orange caps with equivalent value film caps.
I also replaced the caps on the Direct Drive board as pictured.
The idler tire and belts were replaced. The transport was removed, cleaned and regreased, including unseizing the pinch rollers.
The deck was calibrated per the manual using professional quality calibration tapes.
Playback works flawlessly with very good W&F measurements.
The cosmetics on this unit are also great, except a scratch on the play button.
RECORDING ISSUES -- after restoration recording was working fine, and I recorded a few Type I, II and Metal cassettes. Since then, I have been having trouble with the bias during recording calibration and hence you should assume that recording is not functioning properly on this deck.
