I bought this on eBay about 10 years ago, so I am the second owner, but this has worked faultlessly through all of that time. As a person who appreciates good hifi, the sound of this is fantastic. It is in extremely good condition for age - please see pictures. It is fully working in all respects. Only reason for selling is that I've moved over to internet radio.
The tuner has the well-known memory upgrade which gives it the following benefits:
- 14 memory presets instead of the original 7.
- Memories are non-volatile (retain content without mains power) without the need for a backup battery.
- The backup battery previously used is no longer present. This used to be a common cause for repair, since it was soldered into place and only lasted 5-7 years. Worse, the battery often used to leak causing damage to the circuit board. You can see from one of the internal photos that this had happened at some point in the past (before I owned it). However the circuit board has been cleaned of any residual acid and this problem can never happen again since there is now no battery.
I did the upgrade myself, but I am an ex electronic technician so I know my onions. I've arrowed the old battery box and the new circuit board in the photos. I'm including the old memory chip and the disused battery box for the sake of completeness.
The sale includes the tuner, mains lead, instruction manual (which is a photocopy only). Also including a short stubby FM aerial which I used as we're in a stupidly strong signal area, but please be aware you are likely to need a proper outdoor aerial in your location. Nothing else is included. No original box, but will be well packaged.
It should go without saying (you'd be surprised) but, as with any other hifi source component, this unit requires an amplifier and speakers to operate.
UK bidders only please, and thank you for looking.
