An ORIGINAL BRASS FRONT KNOB for a Stanley No. 9 1/2, 15, 16, 17, 18 or 19 block plane by STANLEY. Lacquered brass knobs were used on earlier versions of the Stanley block planes. Later examples were nickel plated. This extra early example has the fine vase shape form and the narrow, knurled edge used on the earliest Stanley block planes.
