Welcome to our auction! Many of you know us as longtime collectors and sellers of antique and vintage Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter holiday memorabilia, paper ephemera, antique dolls and toys and fine jewelry.

Over the next several months, I will be listing more incredible pieces of Hallowe'en history from some of our hobby’s most well-respected and knowledgeable collectors. I am celebrating more than 25 years of finding new homes for such wonderful treasures on eBay!

I believe this is the finest example of this vintage Hallowe'en tambourine I have ever seen!

Produced by T. Cohn in the 1950s, this lithographed tin noisemaker has an awesome scary-yet-friendly black cat in the center and more black cats and witches along the rim.

What I particularly love about this example is the golden yellow used here with the reddish orange and the black. Not all examples have yellow accents.

It retains all four pairs of its yellow tin cymbals. This tambourine has T. Cohn’s circular mark on the front, and the original price of a whopping 25 cents on the rim. How I love to see this!

At its widest, it measures just under 9” across. Notice that the witch faces have dancing devils decorating their hats.

The exact condition is as follows:

There are only a few tiny dents to the face of the tambourine, and one small separation between the top rim and the side. This was no doubt done in the making and should not be considered a flaw. The colors are exceedingly bright, and there is little to NO wear to the cymbals.

Noisemakers like this wonderful example were a fixture at those great old Hallowe'en parties from many moons ago. They were used as game prizes, party favors, and decorations for the table, and were also so useful in keeping the spooks away on a dark All Hallows Eve. This would be an ideal addition to any collection of authentic vintage and antique Halloween memorabilia, desirable noisemakers, and hard-to-find tin lithographed toys from the midcentury years.
