Description 

Used Biddle Instruments 220070-56 DC Dielectric Test Set control unit, designed for a 70-kilovolt high-voltage DC hipot testing system.

The control unit powers on successfully. Both digital displays illuminate, the green AC indicator activates, and the voltage and current displays show zero as photographed. No further testing was performed.

This unit requires the correct external Biddle high-voltage module, interconnection cable, high-voltage output cable, ground leads and safety-interlock connection to produce a high-voltage output. Those components are not included.

The Biddle 220070 series was designed as a portable DC source for dielectric withstand and insulation testing on power cables, motors, switchgear and other electrical equipment. The complete 70 kV system provides continuously adjustable negative-polarity DC output and measures specimen leakage current. The system is rated up to 5 mA, with allowable output dependent on test duration.

The control unit is housed in its original rugged portable carrying case. An operating-instruction sheet is attached inside the case.
