Fits onto an SFF-8482 (29-pin) SAS drive and gives it a SATA-style 22-pin plug: 7-pin data plus 15-pin power. It is a passive cable, so the drive must still be run by a SAS controller.

Needs a SAS controller. This cable does not convert SAS to SATA. A SAS drive still needs a SAS HBA, RAID card or SAS controller.
SAS drives will not run on motherboard SATA. It will not make a SAS drive work from a SATA-only motherboard port, a USB to SATA adapter or an ordinary SATA dock.
