Rarer silver plated Naples 1944 WW2 soldiers souvenir ring.

Very good and clean condition, minor dents from wear as seen n the photos.

Size UK  U / US 10. Weight is 12.9 grams.

The face of the ring depicts the Bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius. The text along the bottom reads "1944 NAPLES". Notably, Mount Vesuvius erupted violently in March 1944 during the Allied occupation, which is why the engraving specifically highlights smoke billowing out of the volcanic peak.

These rings were typically handcrafted by local Italian artisans or the soldiers themselves using salvaged wartime materials. They were commonly made out of brass or bronze shell casings and plated in nickel or more unusually silver as is this one.
