WHAT IS THE NEW JERSEY POLICE HONOR LEGION? This is an organization consisting of only law enforcement members who have been decorated for valor, for knowingly putting their own lives at risk in carrying out their duties. Membership in this highly honored organization requires the physical decoration (medal or ribbon), and nomination from a police chief or federal agency head. 

WHAT IS A POLICE HONOR LEGION (OR A PBA OR FOP) CURTESY CARD, AND WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE?  A Courtesy card is one issued by police unions and police organizations for officers to give to family members, their friends, and supporters of law enforcement officers.  Its primary purpose is to signal a personal connection to the police, hoping to prompt an officer to exercise professional discretion, and to issue a verbal warning instead of a traffic ticket, for minor infractions.  A police officer is under NO legal obligation to honor the card.  Regarding officer discretion:  presenting a card DOES NOT guarantee leniency (and can backfire if the driver acts entitled or aggressively).  Courtesy Cards carry no legal authority, and do not exempt anyone from traffic laws or criminal charges. These cards are issued yearly, and every card in this lot has dates prior to 2026, so are expired dates.

 

Offered for sale are 33 years of Police Honor Legion Courtesy Cards, beginning with 1991, and ending with 2025.  1992 and 1998 are not included.  The cards are available for historic, nostalgia, police memorabilia collectors, and the pride of past and present Honor Legion members.  Most of these cards are in mint condition...a very few have very slight wear.  Two of them have inked-over names on their backs to protect the identity of those whose names appeared on them.  The card fronts are ALL in collectable, displayable, sharp condition.  These cards will be shipped to you protective, sturdy baseball card, 9 pocket display pages, which can be popped right into a 3-ring binder for storage and viewing, if desired.
