Ladies and gentlemen… gather ’round!

Tonight’s feature presentation stars a bird so handsome it almost made me buy waders.

Up for auction is a hand-carved decorative Northern Pintail duck decoy by acclaimed Ohio carver Rick Johannsen, signed by the artist and dated 1-10-2001. This is a beautifully executed display carving with exceptional feather detail, lifelike glass eyes, and a rich hardwood mounting base featuring Johannsen’s feather brand.

Now… because every great movie needs a plot twist…

This decoy has a broken tail.

Yep. Somewhere in its life this poor fella backed into something harder than a brick wall. The break is clearly shown in the photos and should be considered before purchasing. I have not attempted any repairs because collectors generally prefer untouched condition over amateur restoration.

Features:

* Hand carved and hand painted by Rick Johannsen

* Signed and dated 1-10-2001

* Hardwood display base with feather maker’s mark

* Outstanding carved feather detail

* Realistic painted bill and glass eyes

* Decorative display decoy

Condition:

* Tail is broken (see photos)

* Otherwise displays beautifully

* Normal light wear from age and display

* No repairs performed

Whether you’re a collector of decorative decoys, a fan of Rick Johannsen’s work, or someone looking for a restoration project, this is a wonderful opportunity to own an authentic carving by a respected American decoy artist.

🎬 Roll the credits…

This duck may have lost part of its tail, but it never lost its dignity.

It still stares across the room like it owns the marsh.
