Gorgeous pair of vintage mid-century modern studio pottery bowls/dishes hand-crafted by the renowned Australian ceramicist Charles Wilton. Charles Wilton (1916–2000) was a prominent figure in mid-century Australian art. In 1958, he became one of the founding members of the highly influential Potters' Cottage in Warrandyte, Victoria, alongside other notable potters like Reg Preston and Artur Halpern. The bases feature his distinctive, hand-incised cursive script signature reading "Wilton" accompanied by his fluid script "C" initials monogram right above it.These wheel-thrown pieces showcase his signature unglazed terracotta-toned clay base juxtaposed against a rich, glossy olive-green glaze. These are each 12 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm deep.
