Every once in a while, something comes through the shop that just feels like it’s been telling stories for decades. This hand-carved old mountain fella has seen a few trails, smoked a few pipes, and his loyal dog hasn’t left his side once.

This is a solid hand-carved wood folk art figure standing approximately 10.5 inches tall. He’s carrying his walking stick, pipe, backpack, and has his faithful dog keeping pace at his heels. The carving shows great character with expressive facial features and crisp hand-carved details throughout the clothing, beard, dog, and rocky base.

The figure appears to be unsigned and is believed to be a vintage European Alpine-style carving. While I can’t confidently attribute it to a specific workshop or artist, it’s a quality piece with plenty of rustic charm and would look right at home in a cabin, lodge, hunting camp, or folk art collection.

Condition

Overall, this carving presents very well. I did not find any major breaks or repairs. There is light age-related wear, minor surface marks, and dust consistent with a vintage hand-carved display piece. Please examine all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
