Pair of Bateman Silver Spoons 1 x Hester Bateman Teaspoon London c1780s, weight approximately 11g, 12.5cm long. The original tag from where I bought it at an Antiques Fair at Wetherby about 15 years ago,puts the date at approximately 1780s. The handle is monogrammed with what looks like JAH. I think the bowl has been repaired. The hallmarks are worn - obviously due to its age - nearly 250 years old!!!!!!! However the makers mark HB and the George III duty mark can be clearly seen. Hester was the mother of Peter Bateman and the mother-in-law of Ann who was married to her other son Johnathan. Hester retired in 1790 which helps to date the spoon to the 1780s decade.
The second item is a Georgian Salt Spoon by son Peter & his sister-in-law Ann dated 1801. It weighs approximately 9g, measures 10.5cm long PBAB makers marks with readable hallmarks. Ann retired in 1805. The price is for both spoons. Disposing of my collection - please see my other items.
