An assortment of 15 early 20th century RPPC postcards featuring various modelling figures including some famous and some unknown. The cards include:
1) A decorated British soldier sporting his Boer War and Great War medals with annotation to the rear.
2) An unknown young woman portrait - unused card.
3) A young woman posing by a dressed table in Edwardian clothing. Unused card by Gale's Studios Ltd.
4) Another young woman posing by the same dressed table as the card above. Again unused and by Gale's Studios Ltd.
5) An aristocratic looking young woman leaning on a chair. The card has been written on to the reverse, but not posted. Manufacturer is Harry Bullock of Crewe.
6) A rather scary looking kid on a stool with a teddy bear. Unused card made by J. Hart of Nantwich Road, Crewe.
7) An photo of American actress Pauline Chase holding a large bouquet of flowers. An unused card by A & G Taylor, London.
8) A colourised young woman holding a bunch of grapes. Stamped "made in France" to the rear. This card has been written on and posted in July 1918.
9) A photo card of British comedian and actor Bert Grapho. The card is unused.
10) A dashing image of Charlie Chaplin by Rotary. This card has been used and posted in October 1924.
11) A young woman leaning against a hall chair. The card is unused and by Horace Dudley.
12) A portrait of George V's daughter HRH Princess Mary by Rotary. The card is unused.
13) A card with the message "My heart this thought shall cherish ever - true love and friendship changes never" featuring a young woman holding a fishing net. The card has been used, but not posted. It has a scuff to the rear where it has probably been glued in an album at some point. Card is stamped to the rear "Valentine's Series".
14) Two kids posing by a swing, titled "On the Swing". Published by E.A. Schwerdtleger & Co,London. The card has been used and posted, franked December 1914. The card has a vertical crease running down it.
15) A diorama of a bar dressed with various bottles along with Charlie Chaplin in costume and two other characters. It may be that they are posing with a cardboard cut-out of Chaplin? The card is unused.
The postcards each measure approx 14 x 9.3cm with some slightly smaller in dimension.
Condition: Some cards have been written on and some posted. Some cards have not been used. All are generally in good condition with no rips, but some have light stains and minor creases. One has writing extending to the front.
