Up for auction is a rare and beautiful lot of two (2) original antique tobacco caddy crate labels. These stunning examples of late 19th-century stone lithography feature vibrant nautical themes and elaborate Victorian-era artwork.

1. "Sailor's Hope" Tobacco Label

This label was produced for the Maclin-Zimmer-McGill Tobacco Co. based in Petersburg, Virginia. It depicts a classic maritime scene of a woman on a dock, holding a red umbrella and looking out toward a schooner and a lighthouse.

2. "Josephine" Tobacco Label

The "Josephine" label features a trade mark image of a woman in a blue dress seated on a ship's deck, surrounded by heavy nautical ropes and a stormy sea.

Condition Report

• General Condition: Both labels are in remarkable condition for their age, with vibrant colors still intact and no tears.
• Wear: Some minor age-related handling wear, including potential light toning typical for authentic ephemera of this period.  The top half inch of the “Josephine” label has been folded back (does not effect image).

Items will be shipped flat and reinforced with backing to ensure they arrive safely.  The winning bidder will pay postage (plus $1 handling) and sales tax.
