Original WWII British Home Front Ministry of Works (M.O.W.) / Air Raid Precautions (A.R.P.) Electrical Warning Sign
An original British World War II Home Front metal utility sign bearing the markings “M.O.W.” (Ministry of Works) and “A.R.P.” (Air Raid Precautions). The raised lettering reads:
“FUSES FOR ELECTRIC CIRCUITS IN SHELTER”
These signs were installed within air raid shelters, government buildings and other wartime civil defence installations to clearly identify fuse locations for electrical circuits. They formed part of Britain’s wartime Home Front infrastructure and are increasingly sought after by collectors of Civil Defence, ARP, and Ministry of Works memorabilia.
The sign is manufactured from pressed steel with raised lettering and retains its original red and cream painted finish. It has developed an excellent authentic wartime patina with heavy age-related wear, oxidation, paint loss and staining, giving it outstanding character while remaining clearly identifiable.
