• The model features a dual-headed knuckle coupler that combines the automatic coupler used on passenger and freight cars, including 489 series and Kih82 series, with the close-contact coupler found on 189 series trains, only on the Karuizawa side of the second end. It accurately depicts the differences between the 1st and 2nd generation EF63 locomotives, including tail lights, front warning color stripes, the position of lightning arresters, and the shape of the water splash guard and auxiliary handles above the crew doors. The realistic coupling distance, the second end jumper socket compatible with DMUs, and the intermediate bogie speed detection wheels enhance operational authenticity.
• Additional features include a PS17C pantograph with a lightweight horn tip, a continuous ribbed roof monitor, and metal lettering for the number plates (numbers 3, 4, 11, 12).
