The pictures speak for the quality of this set of long range sights.
Everything is made like fine watch parts.
Note: there are thick strips of platinum soldered to the sight staff and front sight, then the graduations are hand engraved in the platinum. The British did that a lot on high grade rifles.
Platinum did not cost thousands per ounce like it does today.
It will not tarnish and has a grey silver color perfect for graduations.
I am a jeweler so Yes, I know it is platinum. There is a lot of platinum there!
This sight seems to be complete. It was probably made for a muzzleloading Long Range Rifle but it could be fitted to single shots with a new rear sight base.
There is only one flaw I can find. The small 3/8 dovetail front sight base works fine with the long cross feed screw on the front sight.
The threads slip in the front base that clamps on the barrel. A good machinist could probably fix that by installing a nut threaded to fit the screw. I know I could do it but no longer have a lathe or mill.
The little dovetailed box is very nice fancy Oak.
This is a great sight set with Lots of possibilities. I like just Looking at it!
