A striking vintage sterling silver brooch by renowned Danish silversmith Hugo Grün, beautifully designed in an elegant fan or shell form and set with a large polished cabochon amethyst.

The clean geometric lines and pierced silverwork are quintessential Scandinavian Modern design, while the rich purple amethyst provides a wonderful focal point and contrast against the satin finish of the sterling silver. It has a reassuring weight in the hand and is exceptionally well made, reflecting the high standards of mid-century Danish silver craftsmanship.

The brooch is fully hallmarked for Sterling Denmark with the HG maker’s mark for Hugo Grün, together with Danish silver hallmarks. It also carries Finnish import hallmarks, indicating that the piece was officially imported into Finland and assayed to meet Finnish precious metal standards, adding an interesting part to its history.

Please see photos for condition. Most items I sell are vintage or antique, so may have some age-related wear. I tend to leave items in the condition that I received them, as some people like the signs of age and patina. If you want to know the weight or any other info, please feel free to ask. I’m also happy to clean items if requested.
