The Origin & Sacred Legend

To understand this set of sacred Leklai, you might wonder why Phra Ajarn O refers to it as "Leklai Khamai" (which does not mean "stolen").

The epic history began with two revered monks from the Southern Isan region, historically referred to by the spiritual pseudonyms "Luang Pu Ruesi" and "Luang Pu Kham", who shared a bond like spiritual brothers. One day, both monks performed a sacred ritual to invite Leklai from a hidden cave. After obtaining a small portion, Luang Pu Ruesi kept the Leklai under his care, leading to a parting of ways between the two monks.

The Leklai remained with Luang Pu Ruesi throughout his life. After his passing, his disciples sought to divide the substance among themselves. However, due to its sacred nature, peculiar and supernatural events occurred whenever they attempted to touch or divide it. Although Luang Pu Ruesi had left ancient ritual instructions on how to properly handle it, none of the disciples could decipher them.

Eventually, destiny led them to "Ta Pien," a lay master deeply knowledgeable in traditional Leklai rituals. Upon reading the instructions, Ta Pien became the only person capable of dividing the Leklai into small rice-grain sizes. In exchange for his ritual knowledge and service, Ta Pien retained a few grains for himself—a customary practice for ritual masters.

Due to its immense spiritual energy, Ta Pien chose not to keep it at his home permanently. Instead, he offered the Leklai to Phra Ajarn O for sacred safekeeping. Over time, Ta Pien frequently visited Ajarn O to offer amulets, but this specific Leklai was presented purely as a spiritual offering.

Upon receiving the Leklai, Phra Ajarn O performed sacred consecrations to calm and stabilize its energy. He retained a portion, bestowed some to close disciples (such as Officer Watcharin), and consecrated pieces into sacred amulets. News of its profound spiritual power spread, leading many devotees and respected senior monks to request a piece for themselves.

Seeing its rarity and high demand, Phra Ajarn O requested further assistance from Ta Pien, who willingly passed on another portion, viewing himself merely as a custodian passing sacred artifacts to someone with higher spiritual merit. After Ta Pien passed away, his daughter entrusted the final remaining portion to Phra Ajarn O. In total, Phra Ajarn O received approximately 40 grains of this sacred Leklai.

Phra Ajarn O named it "Leklai Khamai" (referencing the Thai idiom Ta Yoo, where one receives something precious peacefully after others fought over it) because it came into his care naturally without requiring dangerous ritual expeditions.
