New Models Released from the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom Line!
The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom collection, created through a collaboration between Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop, has been significantly revamped for 2024.
In particular, the inclusion of the “Gibson headstock”—which had been highly requested by fans but had been slow to materialize—was a very exciting development for many Gibson and Epiphone fans.
And in 2025, the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom collection—which continues to earn high praise as Epiphone’s top-tier line—will receive further updates.
In addition to refinements in wood materials and finishes, models that are indispensable to the history of Gibson acoustic guitars will be newly added to the lineup.
1957 SJ-200 Reissue
Introduced in 1937, the Gibson SJ-200 has been hailed as the “King of the Flat-Tops” for its elegant, commanding appearance and its truly unique, exceptional sound and resonance. It has been the instrument of choice for countless legends, from cowboy singers to icons of country, folk, and rock, right up to today’s popular artists.
Through a partnership with the Gibson Custom Shop, Epiphone is proud to announce the Epiphone 1957 SJ-200 Reissue—inspired by the Historic Collection 1957 SJ-200 model released by Gibson Custom, yet offered at a price point accessible to many guitarists.
With a focus on vintage-inspired details, it features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top, an all-solid body with high-quality figured maple back and sides, and traditional scalloped X-bracing designed based on the specifications of the Boseman factory, which manufactures Gibson acoustic guitars.
It features a C-shaped, two-piece flamed maple neck—familiar to many guitarists—while the fingerboard and bridge have been refined from laurel to rosewood in this update.
Other features, such as the mother-of-pearl inlays, the mustache bridge, and the flower-pattern engraved pickguard, faithfully reproduce the iconic SJ-200 design.
Of course, the headstock features Gibson’s original “openbook” shape, adorned with a gleaming mother-of-pearl crown inlay and the Epiphone logo.
Furthermore, to meet the needs and preferences of modern players, it features a built-in L.R. Baggs Element Bronze VTC preamp and under-saddle piezo pickup system, making it versatile for a wide range of situations, from live performances to studio recording.
It comes with a historical-style (Red Line) hard-shell case featuring the “Inspired by Gibson Custom” logo.
