Item Description  

Check out this beautiful Antique John Friedrich & Bro Violin Bow for your buying consideration.  This violin bow would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!

This violin bow is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a fine luthier shop or auction house.   We can do that by being a dealer in musical instruments for over 40 years.  We are therefore better positioned to control our acquisition costs, keeping commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that fine luthier shops and auction houses have.

The violin bow is marked "John Friedrich & Bro NY".  The maker resided in the US and the bow is marked NY.  The violin bow was made in the USA.  The bow was probably made in the 1900-1920 period.

No certificate of authenticity comes with this bow.  You be the judge of the maker and age of this violin bow before acquiring the piece.

Minor loss of the finish along the shaft.  Nice looking frog on it.  The mother of pearl cat eye is in place on both sides, one of the eyes has a crack thru it.  No cracks, splits or missing pieces to the ebony (exception of small piece missing on the non-incised side where makes contact with the shaft), mother of pearl or other materials with exception of piece of mother of pearl on the cat eye on one side.   Frog does shift a little from side to side on the shaft.  Not sure if a fit issue or because of the piece missing on frog where meets the shaft.  

The bow has no cracks, splits or repairs to the wood that we observe to report to you.  The bow still has a great finish on it.  Good camber.  Strong flex to the shaft and we can ascertain no warping, splits or repairs to report to you.  The bow has a black colored leather type wrapping on the shaft.  Very nicely made ebony and silver colored adjusting screw.  Adjusting screw is 6 sided.  No end piece in adjusting screw.  Beautiful tip on this violin bow as well.   There is no horse hair on the bow.

The John Friedrich violin bow is 28.5" long.  The bow weighs 1.7 ounces with no horse hair on it.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.

Payment Policy

• Per Ebay policy.  No personal checks.

• 48 contiguous U.S. states and Canada.

• No APO/FPO delivery.
• Items will be shipped via USPS or UPS Ground, based on the buyer's preference.
• Shipped on the same or next business day following receipt of full payment.
• UPS/USPS tracking number will be provided.

If you purchase or win more than one auction in which the items can safely be shipped together, we will send you a combined invoice.

Returns Policy

• Returns are accepted by seller within 30 days of receipt of item where an item is not as described.  The Buyer will be assessed a 15% fee of the Item Cost, plus 115% of both Shipping Costs should they decide to return this item for whatever the reason. 
  
• Please note that this fee is charged to to cover costs related to the loss of listing time and other potential sales, plus the amount of care and time that goes into preparing our unique and fragile items for shipping. 
  
• In accordance with eBay's Buyer Protection Program, the purchase price plus original shipping cost will be refunded to the buyer once the item has been received by the seller, minus the fees noted.
• Buyer would pay for the return shipping cost and any applicable insurance cost (item is the buyer's financial responsibility until the item is safely returned to the seller by shipper).
