Good Restoring General Conditions - Circa 1880
Ideal gift for special occasions or collectors. Beautiful design of people, field, trees, branches, flowers, butterflies and Chinese traditional objects. The platter is restored accordding to the proper Chinese artisan recommendations, near 1910. Suitable for displaying on any furniture. Received by inheritance. No original packaging.
This is a beautiful and large antique Chinese porcelain oval platter, dating from the mid-to-late 19th Century (Qing Dynasty). This piece features a highly detailed, hand-painted central courtyard scene in the classic Rose Mandarin style, showcasing courtly figures, noble ladies, and musicians interacting on a palace terrace. The rim is elaborately decorated with vibrant Famille Rose enamels, butterflies, birds, and floral medallions.
The reverse features a wide, unglazed terracotta-colored bottom, typical of authentic period Canton export wares. It also bears an old handwritten inventory/auction number (9341) from an early private collection.
Condition Report:
This platter shows significant historical restorations. There are multiple tight cracks across the body that were professionally stabilized and sealed long ago using traditional late 19th/early 20th-century methods (evident from the characteristic aged cream-colored residue on the lines). The structural integrity is completely solid and stable. No modern repairs or missing pieces. This honest wear tells a story and adds an authentic, historic character to an exquisite display piece.
