Antique Georgian period Rare example of a Surviving Vinaigrette in Sterling Silver and gilt, Lozenge shaped the vinaigrette features a chased pattern of 2 flowers to the lid on crosses with central set cartouche vacant of engraving, the reverse and side walls to the vinaigrette are detailed with stippled bands to complete.
The lid to the vinaigrette opens on a solid piano hinged spine to reveal a traditional interior in gilt with pierced pepper pot hinged Grille finsihed with two galleries of cross hatching and hatching.
In Very good condition throughout, the Vinaigrette being without splits or repairs is marked clearly to the interior for Birmingham assay office circa 1809 with the makers mark for Joseph Wilmore, also present is the Duty mark for King George III.
The Vinaigrette when closed shut measures 3.7 cm x 1.8 cm x 8 mm in dimension.
