Vintage serving utensil is a sterling silver handled cheese server (or small dessert/pastry server) manufactured by the Web Silver Company (of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), featuring their classic "WEB5" pattern.

Design Details

The Blade: It is a wide, triangular trowel blade explicitly stamped with "STAINLESS" on the metal face, which was standard practice to combine a strong, rust-resistant serving surface with a precious metal handle.

The Handle: Crafted from .925 sterling silver, the pattern features clean, neoclassical vertical parallel lines extending down the shaft, terminating at the base in a prominent, triple-lobed acanthus plume/fan tip.

Size & Purpose: Measuring approximately 6¼ inches in total length, this miniature size was traditionally produced as a dedicated cheese trowel/server or a petite pastry server for individual sweets.

(A larger 9½-inch counterpart was produced for full-sized pies and cakes).
