This is an original WWII German Luftwaffe voltmeter. It is in a dovetailed wood case that measures approx 6 1/2” x 6 1/2” x 4 1/4”. There is a light circular BAL stamp inside the upper right corner that looks like no 1119 The case opens and closes as it should. There is some slight separation of the dovetail joints and the cover joints but it is all still solid. The screwed on rubber foot pads are still good but one is missing a piece. The two probe wires have drying and cracking of the insulation so they should be handled delicately. The 6 36 switch volt works as it should. The lid piano hinge and locking bar hinge work as they should. The lid closes securely. I believe the wires would have had probes or clips that were held in the clips on the inside of the lid. The instruction panel inside the lid is in great shape with its original celluloid cover intact. There are two studs on the side that I believe would have held a carry or securing strap. There are no other maker marks or waffenamts that I see on the case. The case has wear stains and scratches throughout. The voltmeter glass lens is intact and clear. There is dust on the meter face under the glass. When I touch the wires to a d cell battery, I get a reading in both the 6 and 36 positions. I have seen a lot of WWII German voltmeters and multimeters, but I have never seen this one before. I was unable to find one like it on internet searches or the knowledgeable WWII German dealer websites. If you have any information on it please message me. The BAL stamp is a stamp that indicates it met quality assurance and accepted specifically for Luftwaffe issue.
