Early original hand-colored botanical engraving titled “Passion Flower of Jamaica,” published July 5, 1800 by Harrison, Cluse & Co., Fleet Street, London. This engraving appears to originate from the English publication The Naturalist’s Pocket Magazine issued around 1800.
The engraving depicts the exotic Passion Flower of Jamaica identified in the accompanying text as Passiflora Elata of Linnaeus. Beautiful late Georgian-era copperplate engraving with original period hand coloring. Includes the original descriptive text page from the publication.
