PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING!!!
This was a lamp which needed to be rewired when I acquired it. I disassembled it to do so, but I was afraid I would damage it if I tried to reassemble it, as I had to remove some cement inside the base of the upper half that held the pieces together & it was quite an ordeal to get it taken apart (note: there is no remnant of cement left and no damage was caused, but I can't reach my hand inside the neck to reassemble things) - so I am selling it as is. It can easily be turned back into an urn, as the fitted pedestal and body sit together perfectly; the only issue would be the hole that exists at the bottom of the urn for the lamp rod to go through. There is no visible indicator that this wasn't always an urn, but if your preference is to return it to a lamp, I have all the parts and can include them - just ask at the end of auction. The lamp parts date to the mid 1920s, which is possibly also the date of manufacture (which I guess would indicate it was created to be a lamp?). Included are a decorative solid brass base and a brass double pull-chain socket.
It really is a magnificent piece, with an irregular handpainted blue N w/crown underneath. Condition is excellent - aside from the separation, there is no damage or wear; gold trim is intact and everything is exactly as you'd want it. Figures are fashioned in very high relief with incredibe details. Measures 12" tall when together. Thanks -
