This is an authentic piece of vintage Baltic folk art — a traditional wooden clapper / rattle noise maker with a swinging wooden ball. It is clearly dated "1970" on the front, making it a genuine 56-year-old artifact from the Soviet era.

The decoration is done in a beautiful traditional technique: the patterns of a stylized fir tree (a popular Baltic folk symbol) and a heart were first hand-carved into the wood and then carefully burned to create deep, dark, and textured lines.

It is quite large and substantial, measuring 35 cm in length (about 13.8 inches) including the handle. Historically, these rustic wooden clappers were used as folk musical instruments, watchman rattles, or festive noise makers during local celebrations.

The item is in great vintage condition, completely solid and functional. The leather strap holding the wooden ball is strong, and the wood has developed a warm, aged patina over the decades.
