About the author:
Patrizia Norelli-Bachelet (January 5, 1938 – October 9, 2016), also known as Thea, was an American-born author, cosmologist, and spiritual teacher renowned for developing a unique supramental cosmology that integrated Indian philosophy, astrology, and the teachings of Sri Aurobindo.
Born in the United States, she began her career as a professional astrologer in the late 1960s while undertaking an in-depth study of Sri Aurobindo's works, which profoundly influenced her later contributions to esoteric and New Age traditions. Her innovative approach emphasized a "new way" of cosmological gnosis, reinterpreting zodiacal time and measure to distinguish her from other scholars in Aurobindonian studies.
In 1971, while living in Rome, Norelli-Bachelet experienced a series of revelations that formed the foundation of her cosmological framework, leading her to relocate to India and join the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry. She established the Aeon Centre of Cosmology in the Palani Hills of Tamil Nadu in the late 1980s, initially around 1986-1987, as a hub for yogic and cosmological research dedicated to advancing her vision of sacred science. Through this center, she promoted the study of Vedic cosmology and the relevance of ancient myths, such as the Churning of the Milky Ocean, to contemporary global challenges.
Norelli-Bachelet's prolific writings, including books like The Gnostic Circle and The New Way series, explored themes of time, space, and divine measure, positioning her work within broader esoteric traditions while critiquing modern scientific paradigms. Her teachings highlighted the role of India in a emerging supramental age, drawing on astrological and philosophical insights to foster a deeper understanding of cosmic evolution. Until her death in 2016, she directed the Aeon Centre and Aeon Books, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire research into integrative cosmology.
A must-own for anyone interested in astrology, the Sri Aurobindo teachings, Gnosticism, or the works of Norelli-Bachelet!
