- Normal Patina and wear. Should polish up nicely if that's how you like them. The gasket is still very pliable. Untested under pressure, but it does shut water off. Please check all 11 pictures. Thank You As Always !!
- "Powhatan 249" most commonly refers to a vintage solid brass fire hose nozzle. These nozzles are sought-after collectibles often marked with "Powhatan" and the model number "249"
- These nozzles were manufactured by the Powhatan Brass & Iron Works ( West Virginia) and are popular in the vintage firefighting memorabilia market
- You will often see several stamps grouped together on the brass body:
- Powhatan: The manufacturer's name.
- 249: The specific model number.
- UL / Listed 391M: The certification body and tracking number
- Safety Certification: It was officially recognized as a "Portable Spray Type Nozzle".
- Fire Class: It is typically rated for use on Class A (common combustibles like wood/paper) and Class B (flammable liquids) fires.
- Warning: Most nozzles with this marking also state "Not For Electrical Fires" because the solid brass construction and water stream can conduct electricity
