I've owned the car since August 2021. It's a good looking car with the desirable panoramic glass roof and I've enjoyed owning it. It's a wonderful cruiser.
I have only used the car sparingly. It has been garaged throughout my ownership. The previous owner rarely used the car either and the vast bulk of its mileage was clocked up by 2010, at which point it had covered 107,396 miles according to the service book. Mileage should not exceed 117,000 by the time the auction ends so under 10,000 miles in the last 16 years!
There is little history after 2010 although the MOT history shows no significant issues. The service book goes up to 2010 and was mostly Mercedes main dealer. There are various bills for odds and ends after that. There is no formal service history post 2010. The car was owned by a garage owner from about then until 2021, barely used, and he just made a few notes about what he did.
I am capable of carrying out basic services and the car has had oil, brake fluid and a coolant change in my ownership. It has barely turned a wheel so hasn't needed more than basic maintenance items and has been garaged continuously.
If you're looking at these cars you will know the areas to look at so I'll just highlight some key areas:
There is no significant rust anywhere on the car and importantly the rear arches are solid.
The in-car entertainment/satnav is all working. Non working audio is common. This has BOSE sound and sounds great.
New batteries in the last year or so.
Front discs and pads replaced.
I resealed the boot so no leaks.
PSE pump has been professionally rebuilt.
Roof operates correctly along with the central locking.
No suspension issues. Raises and lowers correctly and doesn't sag on any corner when parked.
Two working keys.
No malfunctions recorded.
The display will show a TPMS warning and that's simply because there are no tyre pressure sensors fitted to the wheels. It is not an MOT issue due to the age of the car.
Service book and manuals present.
V5 in my name. Car had a previous personal plate which is why the last V5 change is after 2021.
The car has had some paint and presents very well. No evidence of significant accident damage. You will find some chips and blemishes given the age and mileage.
HPI and finance clear.
The interior is nice with just a few marks. These are well equipped cars and the kit includes electric heated memory seats for driver and passenger.
The aircon has never worked during my ownership and I have made no attempt to fix it for the simple reason the car is almost always driven top down. The driver's mirror glass has some flaws in it but is perfectly useable.
A previous owner has fitted the AGM SL55 grill. Apart from that, I think the car is original.
As the last MOT shows, all four tyres are ageing but they are Continentals with around 5mm tread so I have not bothered replacing them.
I've priced the car competitively. Cars with non-working roofs, ABC and transmission faults sell for over £3K.
