🏗️ The printed header is excellent, advertising JOHN C. ORR & CO. as LUMBER AND TIMBER DEALERS, with additional work noted for SASH, DOORS, BLINDS & GENERAL HOUSE TRIM. The firm also lists TELEPHONE CALL 23 GREENPOINT, a strong late-19th-century business detail.
📍 This billhead is dated MAY 19, 1898, and appears made out to M. O. M. Finney / Freeman. The handwritten lumber entry records what looks to be approximately 1,480 FEET of dressed lumber / pine stock, with notations including 7/8 x 3/4 and related figures. The account math at the lower right shows 37.24, with another notation of 26 beneath it.
🧾 The front carries a purple PAID stamp from JOHN C. ORR & CO., dated MAY 26, 1898, with blue ink cancellation/signature through the stamp. The reverse is also docketed JOHN C. ORR & CO., MAY 19, 1898, with a handwritten account number or invoice notation, plus another purple MAY 26, 1898 stamp.
