I am selling a Very nice Antique Primitive handmade folk art checker board. You can still see the pencil outline on the board. The squares and edges have been carved into the outline.. I believe the paint is an early dye and the carved outline was to stop the dye from  moving into other square.. Not sure of the wood but is heavy -weighs 3 lbs.  Measures: 13-3/4" x 15-1/8" x 1" high. It is a very early piece- constructed with original square nails 1800's .  Has its beautiful normal wear and blemishes. Nails are tight into the wood- Sides are tight. Please see all pics showing its normal age . Selling in used- as is- used condition. Beautiful Collectors piece looking for that Early Rustic  charm!
