By late 1944, chronic rubber shortages forced German industry to fit the Panther Ausf. G with all-steel, rubber-saving road wheels featuring a distinctive internal cushioning ring rather than a rubber tyre. This kit depicts one of those very late production Panthers, built in the final months of the war.

This boxing also includes the "Sperber" FG 1250 infrared night-vision equipment fitted to a small number of Panthers for night-fighting trials, giving the commander an active infrared sight to engage Allied armour after dark - an experimental capability rushed into limited service as the Reich's military situation collapsed in early 1945.
