The Royal Galleries of the Academy of Venice: Catalogue compiled by the Directors of The Royal Galleries of the Academy of Venice, published by Casa Editrice Apollo in 1928. This Book is a Softcover with Dust Jacket measuring 4.875" x 7.375" with 176 pages plus 36 black & white plates.

Description

The Royal Galleries of the Academy of Venice were established in conjunction with the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice in 1807 by the Napoleonic Government, which collected the best works of art originally found in Venetian churches, convents, and other suppressed ecclesiastical groups. The galleries and academy became independent of each other in 1879. The galleries periodically grew from the original Napoleonic-assembled collection to 884 paintings and 37 sculptures cataloged in this book. This catalogue is indexed and has 36 black & white plates of some of the major works by Giovanni Bellini (Giambellino), Canaletto, Vittore Carpaccio, Andrea Mantegna, Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, and others.
