Artist: Nymphenburg Bustelli Frankenthal 1 of
3 German porcelain statuettes from the end of the 19th century. Manufacture of Nymphenburg. The 3 pieces bear the intaglio signature of the Nymphenburg factory (intaglio Bavarian shield). Baroque style. The 2 statuettes on a base are after models by Franz Anton Bustelli (made between 1754 and 1763) and represent Vulcan behind her brazier (Winter) and Flora with flowers on her dress and in her hair (Summer) . These 2 statuettes are part of the series of the 4 seasons according to the Roman gods described by Ovid. The Putto is from a model made in the 18th century by Frankenthal, whose signature can be found in blue under the statuette next to the hollow Nymphenburg one. The two statuettes after Bustelli measure 17 cm high x 5.5 cm side. The statuette after Frankenthal measures 14.5 cm high x 9.5 cm long and 5 cm wide Very good general condition with small chips to the flower petals on 2 statuettes.
This item is a Nymphenburg porcelain figurine of a putto, designed by Franz Anton Bustelli, likely representing "Winter" or "Vulcan" from the Four Seasons series.
It is modeled as a cherub standing on a high pedestal with a Bavarian coat of arms.
Similar figurines from this series are made of white glazed porcelain, often referred to as blanc de chine.
Original models were created between 1754 and 1763, though reproductions were made in later centuries.
Depending on the age and condition, these porcelain pieces can be valued at several hundred dollars in antique markets.
