This is a vintage Grundig TK25 reel-to-reel tape recorder. It is sold on the understanding that this is very old tech that is more for historic appreciation or for those in the industry. When it powers on, it scares the bejesus into me. It will probably need a proper reconditioning before it’s good for use.

With that done with, this is a really fantastic bit of old recording equipment. It is definitely partially working as it powers up from the mains, the warm up light appears and the tape spools turn: play, rewind and fast forward. Because I have no tape or audio leads I can not test it any further. But the fact that the motor is working is a good start.

It’s a bit shabby and beaten up, most if the external metal and finishing is tarnished. The counter appears to be broke and some of the plastic casing around the handle is beginning to become brittle. The logo also fell off the case when I closed the lid. The carry handle is still good as are the locks but there is no key.

A great piece of mid century German technology.
