This antique late 1920s boudoir lingerie ensemble consists of a flowing lilac silk nightgown and matching cream silk chiffon bed jacket. Embellished with delicate lace panels, ribbon bows, and floral appliqué trim, this elegant two-piece set captures the romantic luxury of the Jazz Age era.
The full-length nightgown has a loose fitting draped silhouette. The bodice features ornate cream lace overlays with pale pink ribbon bow accents, while the hem is finished with coordinating lace trim. There are loops for a belt, but no belt is present.
The matching bed jacket is made of sheer cream silk chiffon with wide sleeves ending above the wrist, open front styling, and extensive lace edging. A dimensional floral appliqué at the chest adds a charming finishing detail. Its longer length is typical of earlier boudoir garments and pairs beautifully with the gown.
The interior label reads “Genuine Floriswah Tailored by Sobie’s”, an uncommon period label. I believe that Floriswah is a play on words - combining a shortened Floral with the French "soie" (silk), but spelt as pronounced "swah". Almost certainly made in Canada.
