Mamiya 645E Rapid Pack w/80mm F2.8 Lens & Rapid Wind Grip GN401. This is a battery operated medium format film SLR from Japan. It was sold as a 'pack' with the 80mm f2.8 lens and the rapid wind grip, that is worked by thumb action while gripping the outboard attached handle. It has a built in exposure meter, mirror up, and diopter viewfinder. 120 roll film is loaded onto a combined roll film holder and pressure plate that is detachable from the camera.

I had this camera on a three month trip through India and it works well as a medium format travel camera. I had three lenses; the 80, 35, and 155, which covered most situations. The simplicity of the thumb wind works well on the road. The light meter and shutter are battery operated so I went through two batteries on the trip. The second battery was still in the camera and flat, along with a roll of film with three shots taken, so I have removed both film and battery. You will need to get a fresh battery to use the camera as it is battery dependent to operate. The battery it takes is very small (4LR44), so it's not an issue to carry them travelling.

The 645E camera is for the most part robustly built. However the viewfinder tube is somewhat lightly constructed, and it is somewhat prone to damage, being separated from the body as it is. This camera sustained a knock to the viewfinder tube which separated the seam that runs along its length. It wasn't major and the viewfinder still worked as normal, but it was enough to need attention. I found superglue and lightly glued the top and bottom half tubes together, and the repair proved effective and solid. This happened early on in the trip, so I used gaffer tape to ensure the tube has extra support, and that is what you see in the photos. Call it battle hardening.

There is a UV filter, and the original Mamiya camera strap is included. I bought this camera off the original owner, so I am the second owner.

I will wrap the outside of the Mamiya retail box with bubblewrap and tape on some external cardboard to keep the original packaging intact for sending parcel post via Oz Post with tracking. Weight of the Mamiya retail box and camera is 2.087 Kgs. So it's going to be around 2.5 Kgs with the outer packaging.

Payment within three days of end of auction, and I'll post within three days of eBay's receipt of payment.

Rlisted due to non payer.
